I knew the morning that I got ready to taxi to the hospital that he was already gone. My dog lay with his head in my lap and I feel like we both knew.

I was 35 weeks pregnant to the day when I heard the words “I’m sorry there is no heartbeat” and our world shattered as did our hearts.

Our baby boy Quinn was our first (and only) pregnancy after an 8-year journey with numerous IVF treatments, operations and medications.

The pregnancy was rough– but I was so grateful to finally be pregnant I tried not to complain. I had hyperemesis right up to his birth (death), and an operation in the first trimester for an incompetent cervix which had been caused by LETZ treatments in my early 20s. We had a 2 vessel cord and baby was small the whole way through the pregnancy.
