Erryn is a bereaved parent. She has two living children and a daughter, Gemma, who was stillborn in March 2016. Having experienced the sudden absence of fetal movement at 37 weeks gestation, Erryn presented to the hospital birthing unit to be informed that her baby had no heartbeat. It was later discovered that Gemma's stillbirth was caused by a cord accident in utero. The loss of their daughter Gemma forever changed Erryn and her husband Mat. Gemma will always be part of their family and they speak her name often. She is never forgotten and forever missed.
Erryn's personal journey ignited her deep commitment to improve stillbirth awareness and empower families to be their baby's advocate. Given her lived experience Erryn felt connected to Still Aware's purpose and started volunteering for them in 2023. She joined their Consumer Advisory Board in 2024. Her other contributions to stillbirth advocacy include participating in fundraising, research and inquiries focused on stillbirth prevention and support, and sharing her story as part of YouTube Channel 'Beyond the Labour Ward'.
Currently Erryn works as an Inclusion and Diversity Lead based in Sydney, New South Wales. Her career to date also includes 25 years in the Banking and Finance sector working primarily in operations management roles both within Australia and internationally. She is a passionate, pragmatic and people-centric professional who leads with empathy.
