Eliza Strauss

Eliza Strauss is a Bereavement Midwife and Founder of The Perinatal Loss Centre, Melbourne.

Eliza established The Perinatal Loss Centre with Dr Renee Miller, Perinatal Psychologist, to provide perinatal loss education, training & support to health professionals who work closely with bereaved parents experiencing perinatal loss (miscarriage, ending a pregnancy, stillbirth & newborn loss).

Eliza also works as a Birth Suite ANUM and was the Principal Bereavement Midwife in a private maternity hospital in Melbourne. There she established a unique Bereavement Support Program which supports bereaved families following a perinatal loss.

She holds qualifications in Nursing, Midwifery, and Bereavement Counselling, and has enjoyed a combined career in Nursing & Midwifery for over 37 years.

Eliza was awarded the National "Excellence in Bereavement Care Award" by the Australian College of Midwives/SANDS for her work in perinatal loss in a maternity hospital setting.

Eliza's passion lies in educating other health care professionals to equip them with the tools necessary to care for these vulnerable families at a devastating time in their lives.

Recently, Eliza has founded My Pebble Urn - a compassionate business making customised hand-made clay urns to hold a baby's ashes after cremation.
